The Oh Sh*t Toolkit

Let's keep it real. As amazing as it is to explore beautiful new countries, sometimes things happen. Here's what you need to prepare so that you're ready to go no matter what life throws your way.

Bring some snacks/food in case you land late and nothing is open.

You never know when you might be hungry and you can't snag some food. Here are a few great options that won't take up much space:

  • protein bars

  • instant oatmeal

  • trail mix

  • dried fruit

Pack a spare set of clothes in your carry-on.

It's rare, but if your airline loses your suitcase and it takes a few days to get it back, it's nice to have an extra set of clothes on you. Some airlines will compensate you if your bag is delayed for a certain amount of days, so be sure to also read the fine print on your ticket, along with your travel insurance.

Missed your flight?

Take a deep breath. It happens. If you need to adjust your transportation, please be kind to the ticket agents. Trust that things will work out for you. If it's not going to matter in 5 years, then don't waste your time being frustrated over something you don't have control over.

And, if your route gets adjusted, find the silver-lining and take advantage of the new places you get to explore!
